Seventeen
runners showed up for a mid-August run on a hot and humid
morning with sun to round the 3.6 mile Adams-Ricci loop. After
running the rise behind Blue Shield and climbing the hill at the
end of old Center Street to return to the park, finishers
quenched their thirsts with water and gatorade and munched on
triangles of watermelon. No one was in a great hurry to leave as
runners socialized on this "dog day" of August. First in was
Tadd Morris at a blistering 22:32
and about a minute slower than his goal time, he admitted.
Second was newcomer Ted Giampietro
from Carlisle with a time of 25:06 (I overheard him confiding
that he was trying to get back into running form.) Capturing the
honors for the women was Vicki Smith
at 32:58 with HARRC veteran runner
Patti Adami in close pursuit at 33:22. I was again ably
assisted by Charlie Laverty who
called out the times as the striders completed the circuit.
