To keep us all guessing, Mother Nature blessed us with a near-perfect running day for Spring Series #2.   Today’s weather was a complete 360 from February’s race.  With temperatures in the 60’s, a participant PR was set.

Times were swift with Shiremantown’s David Crown leading the way in 19:15.

Hot on his heels was Camp Hill’s own Josh Kiner in 19:18.  Close behind was 43 year-old first female-finisher, Kelly Dworak, in an amazing 19:29.  Masters’ standout, Scott Morgan, took fourth in 19:32.  Completing the “breaking 20” crowd was Youness Allali with 19:59.  

Coming in second for the women was Michelle Golightly in 20:32 followed by Belinda Heltzel in 21:15.  Dillsburg’s Sandra Peck, first Masters female, took 4^th overall for the women.

 Once again, the post-race refreshments were enjoyed by all our generous athletes.

With Cornerstone Coffeehouse coffee, Gatorade, and Panera muffins’/bagels to replenish their carbs, everyone headed home to plot their strategy for race #3 on 4/15/06.

 We’re closing in on the $700 mark thus far to donate to Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland & Perry County.   Our thanks to DVS for providing random prizes and the majority of post-race refreshments. 

 Today’s fun facts……… a total of  78 runners participated today…..even though some runners took the “high road” early, the distance is essentially the same, as at some point, you gotta go up……Nine- year-old Ian Moretz completed his first 5K in 28:47………Boston – bound Gary Grobman can log in a speed work-out for the week ……the HMC Walking Works crew of Amy Sheranko, Marge Mcihalski, and Erin Moran  picked up about 6,000 steps in today’s event…… and course monitor Stacey Pietras maintained her composure when runners approached her spot from two different directions.
