Adams Ricci Park 5 Mile Run
It was a sunny, frigid, and windy morning when an astounding
23 intrepid runners came out to brave the elements in East Pennsboro.
The route began with the 3.6 mile loop around Blue Shield going back to
the park via old Center Street. Once back at the park there were two
additional courses tacked on: a 1 1/4 mile "blue" route and a 1/4 mile
"orange" route. As the runners rounded back to the park,
Charlie Laverty and I prompted them on
which path to take. The run turned out rather well despite the cold,
wind, and new format. First in were Becki
McClintock and Miguel Goodpasture at
35:36 followed by Frank Leiter (35:42) and
Gary Grobman (35:48). Apologies to anyone
whose name I might have botched as my fingers were getting numb and the
ink pen was freezing up. Special thanks to
Charlie Laverty as he manned his station at the start of the
"blue" and "orange" paths through the park despite the adverse
conditions.
