Results from the Weekly Run

October 17,1999

This was the first trail run at this location.  Although the day broke with fog shrouding the landscape, nine intrepid souls made the trek up Lambs Gap road to the trail that runs across the top of the mountain.  What they found was sunshine breaking through the clouds, the valley covered in fog, and a challenging 5.36 mile out and back course through the woods.  Bruce Irvin measured the course and also consulted his topographic maps to tell us that the trail rises and falls almost 400 vertical feet throughout.  All the runners enjoyed the new course with Mark Barnhart having the luck of seeing deer in the woods as he led the pack.  The times reflect the vertical rise and also the need for sure footing!

Special thanks go to Mario Gordon (a non HARRC member) who showed me this trail.  I have had the pleasure? of running it a few times with him....after running up the road to get to it!  And a special thanks to Judie Gordon and the Gordon children for supplying the water at the turnaround.
