After welcoming fellow runner Darlene Maloney, the
challenge facing our hearty crew was to determine how quickly they could
pace themselves into a 25 MPH head-wind along the Riverfront 4-mile
course. Prior to the start, all runners gave RD Lebo their predicted
times and subsequently ran the breezy 4-mile course without watches.
Bruce ("the human metronome") Irvin
was the closest to his predicted time, being off by a mere 3 seconds!
In second place was Mike Garman, off by only
4 seconds. The top 5 runners closest to their predicted times were awarded
prizes that only runners can appreciate such as wine, Powerade, Gatorade,
or bottled water.
Mom-to-be Susie Kramer led the women in
31:08. First among the men was Tom Snedden
in 25:54.
In an effort to redeem herself for not bringing cookies to the Christmas
run, RD Lebo toted along hot coffee and sweet rolls. Where were you,
