East Pennsboro Recreational Park 5
Mile
A total of 24 runners showed up for the
third iteration of the 4 mile run
originating at East Pennsboro Recreational Park. It was a clear and sunny
mid-July day with a slight breeze but it was a different course than the
past two runs I directed from this location. This time the run would
meander through a residential area known as "The Highlands" and
would continue along Orrs Bridge Road for almost a mile. Runners were
greeted with a steep hill at the start and (mercifully) at the finish.
Based on random polling, the course received favorable reviews.
First in for the men were the "dynamic duo" of Tadd
Morris and Tom Snedden with a time of
26:50 (just under a 6:45 pace). Susie Kramer
was the first woman to cross the finish line along with her husband Bobby
wheeling son Gunnar. Afterwards, runners
appeared to enjoy the cookies baked by my wife Carol.
This was the highest turnout for what previously had been a winter run.
