Riverfront Four-Mile Prediction Run
With a red-tailed hawk looming overhead at the start, an
entourage of 22 runners headed northward from Riverfront
Park for a 4-mile prediction run. Thoughts of winning one
of the five coveted prizes kept everyone on pace.
Tom Snedden emerged victorious as both the
lead runner
and closest to his predicted time. 5K specialist Jim
Collins, coming off a fast race in Lewistown yesterday,
took silver honors with just 21 seconds between actual
and predicted times. Crowd-favorite Al
Redmond, recovering
from a 1:32 at the Philly 1/2 marathon last week, took the
bronze. Jen Gilbert, faster than her
predicted pace, placed
first for the women in 29:22.
Though only five runners left with prize-in-hand, we were
actually all winners this morning with the weather. - We
were blessed with clear skies, a cool temp., and low
humidity.
