4.3 miles at City Island
The first post blizzard of 2003 club run
was run on a new course designed one hour before race time. The previous
week’s snow storm and Saturday’s rain made most of the planned 5 mile
course impassable without snow shoes, skis or scuba gear. 33 die hard
runners, including two from the Washington, D.C. area, were led by Becky
McClintock over the two lap course. The race distance was announced
as approximately 4 miles or so. Thanks to post race measurement by Steve
Whittle, it was determined that the distance was 4.3 miles.
