HARRC Sunday Club Run
December 14, 2003

Race Directors: Mary Alice and Sam McClintock

Italian Lake – 3 mile or 6 mile

Today showed the true heart of Harrisburg Area Road Runners Club.  Despite a major snowstorm with several inches of snow cover and driving snow, with no end in sight, sixteen hardy runners showed up for a runner’s choice race of 3 miles or 6 miles.

The rest of the story could best be described as good news, bad news story.

The bad news is the roads had not been cleared and it was very slippery and dangerous, and Gary Grobman and Lee McMindes each had bad falls.  Gary hit his head and Lee hit on his opposite end.

The good news is that Gary and Lee are all right, and the continuous record of HARRC having a race every Sunday is still intact.

Gary, with a little help from the other fast runners, managed to get up and finish the 3 miles at 22:50.  Jim Collins finished second of the 3-milers.  Marge Lebo was the first female finisher.

Becki McClintock and Joey Armento finished 6 miles together at a respectable (considering the conditions) 42:04.  Mike Rebuck and Joey Torshia finished shortly thereafter.  Below are the complete results.
