The third 5K of the HARRC Summer 5K Series brought with it some beautiful weather with very warm temperatures.  There were 18 5K participants and 5 'junior runners' in the Kid's Run.

The 5K race was won by Geoff Brent who led the entire race and finished in a time of 19:01.  Geoff was second in the last race run on June 20 and this time out he chopped almost thirty seconds off his time in only his second 5K race!  Mark Ritter was second in a time of 20:47.  The first female finisher, and third overall, was 14 year old Jennifer Grey in a time of 20:53!  Jennifer is an up and coming cross country runner for Cumberland Valley.  Rest assured you will hear a lot about Jennifer in the future.  The second place Female finisher (and fifth overall!) was Diane Gutshall in a time of 21:33.

There were many prizes handed out after the run while the participants were devouring two 6-foot subs.  There is still one more chance to run the Summer Series 5K on Wednesday, August 15th at 6:30 pm, at the DDSP (New Cumberland Army Depot.  The nominal charge as well as all donations are given to a local women's shelter!  (more Pictures Here, at bottom of page)
