Wild wood Park
With brand spankin’-new running diaries just waiting to
be
filled with many miles and new adventures, 24 runners
officially recorded their first race of the new year. The first
HARRC event of 2002 goes down as a 5K event from
the rolling hills of Wildwood Park.
We proudly announce that the winner of today’s event was
our own Susie Kramer.
Speedy Susie flew down the last
hill and completed the course in 21:03. Close behind was
Mechanicsburg’s Julie Burner in
21:15. New bike owner
and HARRC VP, Stacey Pietras,
came in third for the
women in 26:00.
Brad Colwell took top
honors for the men in 21:19.
Triathlete Mark Ritter
brought home the silver in
21:31. New Cumberland’s very own Dave Lebo
took
third in 22:35.
Following a warm-up with gourmet coffee and breakfast
treats, random prizes were distributed. Everyone went
home (or maybe to the Farm Show) to plot their race
strategies for event #2 on February 9, 2002.
The purpose of these Winter events is to get in a good
work-out through a low-key race. Most importantly,
through these races, we strive to raise money for a local
charity. This year, the recipient will be a Women and Childrens
Shelter that serves Cumberland County. Thanks to everyone
today for their generosity and we hope to see everyone (and
more folks) for event #2.
