The Last Run of Winter Series 2002 - 3/2/02
Location: Wildwood Park
While most of the city was grid-locked in traffic- due to truck
spillage of frozen broccoli on I-81,- twenty-seven runners raced
the rolling hills of Wildwood Park. Masters stand-out Eugene
Gignac captured top honors in 20:30.
Eugene stopped by to run
the race following a 2-hour run. HARRC VP and all-around
good-guy, Mike Garman,
came in second in 21:06. Swift Susie
Kramer sped in for the third spot in
21:37.
Completing the top three spots for the women were Diane
Showers in 27:48 and Alissa
Bowen in 29:34.
Following a warm-up with coffee, hot cocoa, and munchies,
the random prizes were distributed. Everyone left with
something in hand.
Deb Donahue,
Director for Domestic Violence Services for
Cumberland and Perry County, was presented with the money
received from this series of runs. With the kind contributions
from all, Deb was presented with $208 for their Women's and
Children's Shelter. Once again, thanks to all runners who
participated for their generosity.
I would also like to thank everyone who pitched in and helped
with these runs. A heartfelt thanks to Charles
Laverty, Jim
Collins, Walt Greene, Dave Lebo, Bob Daniels,
and Brad
Colwell for their help and support.
And we’ll do it all again
for 2003!
